About EC
Eukaryotic Cell® (EC) ceased publication with the December 2015 issue. From 2002 through 2015, EC published findings from basic research studies of simple eukaryotic microorganisms such as yeasts, filamentous fungi, parasitic protozoa, ciliates, social amoebae, algae, and other protists. EC reported basic research studies involving genetic, genomic, biochemical, molecular, and cell biological analyses, virulence studies of host-pathogen interactions, and population genetics and evolutionary/phylogenetic studies of eukaryotic microbes.
As of January 2016, research on eukaryotic microbes is published by ASM's multi-disciplinary, open access journal, mSphere®. mSphere offers the EC community a tremendous opportunity to expand the reach of research in this area, and we encourage EC authors to submit to mSphere. Please review the letter from Dr. Aaron Mitchell for more information.
The Eukaryotic Cell website will remain on HighWire and all articles are freely available; full text of articles will continue to be available through PubMed Central. Permissions will continue to be obtained from CCC RightsLink via a link provided on the EC article page. mSphere searches will include EC content by default.
This title was published monthly, and in 2008 EC became an online only journal. ISSN: 1535-9786. Previous print ISSN: 1535-9778.
