About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover photograph (Copyright © 2006, American Society for Microbiology. All Rights Reserved.): Aspergillus oryzae hyphae expressing AoVam3p, a putative vacuolar t-SNARE, fused with enhanced green fluorescent protein. Photos in the upper and lower panels were taken by confocal and fluorescence microscopy, respectively. In the upper left panel, vacuolar membrane was labeled with the fusion protein, while in the upper right panel, an extending tubular vacuole was visualized. In the lower left panel, vacuolar membrane and small spherical structures were also labeled. In the lower right panel, the fusion protein labeled reticular-like vacuoles in a hypha that was not in contact with nutrients. (See related article on p. 411.)
