Cover photograph (Copyright © 2005, American Society for Microbiology. All Rights Reserved.): Candida albicans hyphae expressing fluorescent fusions to a nucleolar marker (Nop1, red in upper right panel and lower left panel, green in the other two panels). In the upper right panel, a nuclear envelope protein (Nup49, green) was also labeled. In the lower left panel, tubulin (Tub2, red) was also labeled. In the lower right panel, a septin protein (Cdc3, green) was also labeled and forms a ring at the site of septation. Hyphae were induced at 37°s;C under a coverslip on a plate containing 10% serum. Cyan fluorescent protein and yellow fluorescent protein images were captured and merged with differential interference contrast images. (See related article on p. 1697.)
